DUDE, YOU'RE SUED! -By Bloo Dog was a terrific and terrifying read; and had I read it before I did my first wedding, I would've been very nervous. I did read, however, many of Bloo Dogs prior posts, and from other contributors to this fine forum, that helped me prepare for what would be my first interaction with this very interesting subject, wedding photography.
General consensus was "DON'T DO IT!' having no experience whatsoever, I was of course, hesitant. But I said to my self, what the H, just go for it, I'll never know if I don't put myself to the test, and frankly, I didn't want to start slow by helping another experienced photog -I'm not in touch with any- and I know that I should have, but time was running, and I needed to make a decision. So I said yes to the Bride, and practically only charged her for my plane ticket to the location.
Armed with my 20D, 28-75 Tamron 2.8, 580 flash, 70-200 2.8 IS, and a 10D and 550 as back up, I went through adrenaline filled hours, under the harsh midday hawaiian sun, trying to play it cool, and acting the part of "The Photog", everyone was really busy doing something else, so it wasn't difficult for me to get around, and managed to waste my 2 GB of memory on JPEGS.
It was a most unique experience, and I have to say I really did enjoy it, I had come to this with very low expectations, and it really was entertaining to see the day die through my viewfinder.
I made two discs with "the good" pictures and gave them to the B&G about 5 days later, over 300 shots, so they could print their own. Dealing with albums, labs, invoices, etc. is an experience I am trying to save for later.
As for the quality of the pictures, I really don't know. I mean, for the conditions of the day (bright sunlight) I was satisfied with the outcome, although there are many indoors shots as well. And I would like to ask for your opinion by visiting Mike and Michelle gallery at www.surflens.com and I welcome all comments, including harsh constructive criticism, so please help a newbie out! Aloha! JCK

Looks like you got some nice shots for your portfolio.

Those shots look pretty good.
Something wierd is going on in your gallery. For 3 shots it wouldn't let me right-click to open in a new tab. Normally when I run into that, I just go away. ;-) Then I tried a few more & it let me do it from then on. You might want to look into that.

I usually leave if I can't right click on images, but sometimes I turn off Javascript.

Looks pretty reasonable to me. One thing to avoid is having people standing with their shoulders parallel to the sensor, it looks very boring. I simply told everyone to point their feet and shoulders away from the camera, but to look at the lens, you get much nicer photos that way. Also, if the arms are just hanging there, tell them to put them behind their backs, or in their pockets. Get the elbows bent away way you can.
