I am new at photography and I need some help. I just purchased the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L Lens for my Canon 20D. I have read horror stories about people gettting back copies of the lens. I have another week to decide if I need to return this anbd get another one.
I need your help on how to tell if I got a good copy or a bad one. What is the best way to tell? What is the best test to run?
Thanks for your help
Jimmy

IMO this is one of the best lenses available. If you read internet newsgroups long enough, you will find out that you can not buy anything, because there will always be *someone* who is not 100% happy with it
And these are normally the people prone to post horror stories
As far as your question to the lens test is concerned, take a look at this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=77573) and the links mentioned there.
PS: Welcome to the forum :D
You've come to the right place.
EDIT: Hehe ... looks like the finnish elves are at work purging exaggerated sarcasm from the posts
Best regards,
Andy
