Where do you guys usually order a nice and less expensive proof box for clients? I usually pay around $40 for mine, and i think it's a bit too pricey. thanks.

Try these, they have inserts for 4x6, 5x7 or 8x10 pictures:

Thanks Sf1. It looks nice and price is pretty decent. what do you mean by inserts? I can't find that info on their site.

No problem, glad to help. I have several of these boxes, CD cases and photofolios here. Take a look at their blog, 3/4 of the way down shows the pics in the box with the inserts:

Thank you, I think I'll just start using these boxes. for $13 it's not bad at all. few questions:
Are they sturdy and presentable in your opinion?
which size do you use for the 4x6 proofs? the 9 x 13 or 12 x 12.
approximately how many 4x6 photos can you put in it?

They are very sturdy and customers will remember and love them.
They are about 2 mm thick and ridgid, with extra supports on the inside corners.
For 4x6, use the 9x13 box. The void areas around the pics are great for business cards.
No problem to hold 200+ photos.

So just to check, what exactly do you do with proof boxes? Your print the 4x6's that are keepers and put them in this box. Then you give them to the couple to check which ones they want printed. Then you take the box and the prints back? Do you let the couple keep it?
I know this sounds like a dumb question, but i havent been able to figure it out quite yet.
Thank you.

Part of my package is to give the clients the top choice pics professionally printed. I have already adjusted all images before printing. The box can be used to house the pics or they can use it as a keep sake box to put some other related wedding materials in - its entirely up to them. For me, it all comes down to doing a good job - all the way to presenting the prints. Little things go along way.

I just got a from mpix.com and said they are going to be using new boutique packaging. Would this be a good way to give the 4x6 proof box?

And do you let them keep the 4x6's? Im assuming you do, what possible need would you have for it, right?

Sure do let them have the 4x6....believe it or not, lots of people still want prints, even small ones. I correct every shot and when I have them printed, it allows them to see what the actual finished product is. From there, I can have much larger prints made, flush mount albums made or even gallery wraps.
The mpix box is nice, I just prefer the Lokah boxes.

Has anybody had experience with the products made by Finao? They are quite a bit more expensive but offer a high quality custom made box with type and photo imprinting that seems to set them apart from a lot of other products. - Stu
