Taken on Margrit Island, Budapest, Hungary late May, 2005. The trees grow huge (at least by our Colorado standards). The gal on the right is my wife Joan, with our friend Susan from Idaho.

Wow, that is one BIG tree. We had the same experience in New Zealand. Really large trees and they grow amazingly fast compared to Colorado. Nice shot, thanks for sharing.

Kinda hard to read the sign from the distance... here is a close-up:

Martook's New Zealand tree beats my Budapest tree, 8.69 foot diameter to 6 foot diameter, (at head height, measured by my wife's height).

Since we're on the topic of BIG trees here is one of a friend of mine in the Freeman Redwood Grove, CA

Now that is a big tree! What I like about red wood forests are the nurse trees. Do you have shots of any?

I'm glad the sign for the "Big Tree" was there - would have struggled to make out what it was otherwise........ I love funny signs like these.....like the instructions on the 'moist towellettes' - open packet and remove.......
