I had just spent the day shooting with the 20D and was checking all my settings before putting it away when I noticed that the focus section on the upper LCD was blank! I'm thinking "Oh man, it's back for service you go."

I tried cycling power, reloading a new battery, reloading firmware 1.1.0, then re-reolading firmware 2.0.0. Nothing worked. Finally I swapped lenses and back it came. I had managed to switch the lens to manual focus mode! I spent a perfectly good evening discovering that I'm a moron.

Unfortunately, experience only comes *after* you need it.

That's for sure. Just today I went out for a shooting with both cameras. I just forgot that I have had two long shooting session (800+ pics per session and per camera) in the two days before. So i just got at destination to find out that I have all the batteries completely empty. Thank god I always have one spare battery for both camera and the AA adapters for both grips in the bag. I ended up using also a full set of AA batteries for the 350 :D

That's happened to me before. I would venture to say that has happened to quite a few of us.
