View Full Version : Lunar + Cluster Photo Op Tonight

The moon will pass very close to a bright open cluster, M35, between about 2:00 in the morning and sunrise. It'll get within a moon diameter starting about 4:00 am and this would be a great opportunity to try and capture stars and the moon at the same time.

I doubt I can be up at that time but maybe someone will give it a shot.

The main challenge is exposure to get both to show up well.

I suspect some bracketing & HDR will be needed to do this correctly. The moon will likely wash everything else out of the photo :(

Starry Nights software...I've looked into it before, but never seen an actual image of what you see. Maybe it's time for me to upgrade my software, especially with the new scope coming. Thanks!

This is what CDC (Cartes Du Ceil) Looks like and it's also free .
