I was lucky to be in Banff National Park this past Saturday and came across this fellow. Unfortunatly the only lens I had with my was the kit lens on my Rebel so you can guess just how close I was :)

Well that is a crop of the original but yes I was within 20 feet at some moments. There was a few of us stopped looking at him and he really didn't seem to care we were watching so I wasn't too worried...but I was carefull. There's some more shots of him on my pbase account along with the other photo's from that trip.

Nice shot. The elk in Banff and Jasper are almost tame. In Jasper, they will almost nudge people off the sidewalk.
