I've come over to the dark side from NIKON.
CANON 20d is awesome! But, I've got a long way to go to catch up in lenses for the 20d. Certainly like the POST and all of the good information.
Hope to eventually have also the new 10-22 lense in my bag. Any other ideas?

You must get them all. It is the goal to which we all aspire. (That, and winning the lottery, of course.)
Actually, you have good coverage. I would hold off on any other major purchases until you decide where you might want/need more speed, and then buy fast primes at the appropriate focal length.

Welcome to the forum.
Of course, many of us would say you have been rescued from the dark side and you are now among those exploiting the positive side - but in any case, we hope you will learn a lot here and have some fun along the way.
Have Fun,

Now, I say you ditch that 17-85mm and grab a 24-70mm L :)

Yeah, send me all your old obsolete Nikon gear....:D
Truthfully though, I have an F2 Photomic and a Nikkormat FTN,that I can never see parting with. The build quality alone is in a different class than todays plastic and electronic marvels. They are fun just to hold and marvel at the engineering that went into them. Of course the Nikkor glass even in my (all pre-ai) lenses never fails to please.
In fact I like my Nikkor lenses so much that I have adapted them to work on my EOS. Since Nikon bodies are thinner than EOS all it takes is an adapter ring to make up the spacing difference. Of course you lose much of your automation, but you still get metering! (you dont even get that using your old nikon lenses on new nikon bodies!).
For those who only have known only the latest breed of electronic wonder cameras this loss of automation is seen as crazy! However for those of us who have been fortunate enough to have expirence using the older manual cameras, it is not so dificult to understand the desire to use our old favorites on our new cameras. Espically considering that despite Canon's fine line of lenses, there are some Nikkor (and other) lenses that give a different look and feel ("the lens from outter space" 105,2.5 comes to mind).

I looked at the 24-70L. It was a bit on the large side but absolutey perfect. I guess if I start doing weddings again, it will make it to my bag.

Your right Chris, the 105mm 2.5 lens was fantastic. I don't have one but I do have several others like the 50mm 1.2. Where did you get the adaptor for the EOS? Will it work on the 20d with all of my Nikkor lenses?

It will be a difficul task. The Nikkor lens use a mechanical apereture linkage and the EF EOS uses electronic linkage.
