Face it. The on camera digital display is useful but way way too small. I do like the movable display on my old Canon G1 and wish I had something similar and larger for my D60.
Couldn't they figure out a way to attach a Palm Pilot type display to the camera for use when you really want to check expressions, etc? I suppose I could buy a small TV and use it on outside portrait shoots, but there's gotta be a better way.
Any ideas?

Check the product: 'D30 Remote' by Chris Breeze.

It is designed for both the D30 and the D60 cameras. You would need a small laptop instead of a small TV. Advantage: a laptop is lighter and you can control the camera from it.

The D60 comes with remote capture software that uses
a USB connection . I was thinking of using a laptop. A cable to hook up to a TV comes with the camera, so maybe a flat panel display that has a video-in for use as a high def TV screen ?. To bad there is not a portable LCD display of the likes that can be found for DV cameras.

O’ how fast we forget using film was a guess at worst or an ugly low-resolution Polaroid at best! But I know exactly what you mean. You can easily insert the CompactFlash card in many handheld devices like the Compaq (now HP) iPAQ. As far as direct remote capability – to date I haven’t found a PocketPC (Windows CE) application that will directly connect USB to the D60. However, since the PocketPC OS is basically a reduced Windows OS, I would assume the Canon SDK with minor modifications could indeed run in any compatible PocketPC from HP, Casio, Toshiba and others. As far as the Palm devices – don’t hold your breath! – The PalmOS is not like the PC and one would be required to develop not only the applications but all the low-level API functions that are included in the Canon SDK. For me, I actually purchased a used laptop with a good small TFT display that can reproduce 32-bit color depth on a 1024X768 display using a 500 Megahertz Pentium for about $300. It’s not a portable handheld, but small enough for those really important on-the-road validation shots (like for on-location holiday party sessions). Using the video output to a TV is very limited as far as resolution but would work for basic validation. Let me know if you run into any D60 remote applications for the PocketPC. I have the Canon SDK for Windows and if I had the time ….. well maybe not! Good luck and have fun!
