im having a brain fart, but if i recall this is one key light, bare bulb w/ silverumbrella pulled very close, 2 background lights w/ grids

http://www.mikepanic.com/photos/albums/val_studio_fashion_june_2nd_2005/aag.jpg

what i personally like about this shot is the soft shadows on her face, neck and back of shirt - the one on her chest from her arm does not really bother me.

i have been working rather hard at the "hard" lighting results i have been getting in the studio and i think this shows a much softer lighting.

post processing was ver minimal in RAW and then fm iso-x pro plugin to smooth the skin

feedback?

This shot looks good Mike, and the shadows seem to be OK as well, but I dont get the title of this shot, RE; "Model in Wife Beater"?

I like this a lot better then the stuff you posted about a month ago... your doing great. Wish I could shoot stuff like this but it just isn't in my dna. I like the direction you stuff is heading.

Wife beater refers to the type of shirt she's wearing ;) I like the image, but I'm curious as to what the full tattoo on her shoulder is

Brilliant. What camera lens, was this with. If you don't mind, how far is your subject from the background. I'm just starting out doing this stuff.

To be a true wife beater shirt wouldn't a few beer and chewing tobacco stains be appropriate. Also, you should photoshop in some facial hair and then the title would make good sense. Although that may ruin the picture. How about "pretty girl in white tank top". This would probably garner more looks.

Very nice! The expression is great and I really like the lighting, including the shadows on her face, etc. Very nice indeed.

24-70L - about 4-6' from the background

No, no, you did it all wrong... you need to reshoot, this time without the wife beater. (get it? hehehehe)

Seriously, I think the image is pretty good, but you need to get rid of that hint of 'posing', you know, bringing out the character and making the model look completely natural - I admit the model's expression is likable and cool, but the arms are just a cent short of a dollar...

MikePanic:
I didn't get the "Wife Beater" either. I thought that it was like 'Egg Beater,' an egg substitute. Duh...

It's the tshirt she's wearing. My understanding is that the reference was started as a social statement about the type of guy who wears that kind of undershirt having more of a propensity for beating his wife.
Not saying its true, just trying to explain the reference.
