Canon HG 10 and Imac HELP

Last year I bought a Hanon GH 10 and a high def TV. Very easy to upload videos and watch on TV.

I also successfully uploaded to laptop using Vista. My main computer, a Dell Xp is on its way out and I am sick of PC platform. I know nothing about Macs but I fell in love with the 27 inch quad core IMac and want to replace the pc with it.

How to I transfer my videos to the IMac, what software will I need? Also, I have not edited videos but want to start doing that. What novice editing software should I use.

You can do everything you want through iMovie which comes with the mac, if you want better editing software you can go for final cut express or even better final cut pro.
