Another question about securing a remote camera, this time to the ground!
I need something that I can clamp onto the ground and then put the camera on to it, something similar to this....

Any ideas who might sell these kind of things, never seen them anywhere?

Hi Pete - I've been using one of these: http://www.overxposed.com/gallerypro.html - it's a nice product and was shipped from the US in no time at all - I use it in conjuction with a Manfrotto B&S head. If you need to, you can secure it by 'spiking' it into the turf in each corner.
However, depending on the gear you're using, the plate is pretty stable on its own - I went for the 'Pro Platform' which can work with just about any camera/lens combo - also you may find the 'Red Riser' of use as it lifts the camera a few inches up and allows you to work flexibly in the portrait position as well as landscape.
The larger plate will also allow you to secure 2-3 cameras at the same time. It's pre-drilled with plenty of handy threaded holes to connect whatever you fancy. Yep, you could probably engineer your own plate like this, but sometimes there's just not enough time in the day!
Hope that helps a little.

Gavin,
That's perfect, think I'll pop an order in for the mini one with a red riser. How long did they take to arrive?

I'm sure it landed within 7 days - so pretty good going. Peter DaSilva at SS.com is the man behind the plates - http://www.sportsshooter.com/members.html?id=1169 - if you need more info.

Might be worth contacting Peter DaSilva first - I'm pretty sure I didn't pay that much for shipping - but don't quote me on that!

Also I seem to remember that Scott Rovak was another source for floor plates - http://www.sportsshooter.com/members.html?id=197 - might be worth a look.

That's just a flat plate with some holes in it, isn't it? Doesn't the head attach separatly? Any machine shop could make one up for you.
