IanD, Ssim, PacAce, Cyberdynesystems and I met last Friday in Maine for GMOS I, the Great Maine Osprey Shoot. The alewives were running upstream to spawn in Damariscotta Mills, and we were there to take a few pictures.

All in all it was a resounding success since we all got more than a few pictures.
:)

This was less of a success for me as I messed up a LOT of shots. I had a lot of over-exposures, not quite so many under-exposures. That's what I get for going camera-free for 5 months. Note to any others: If you're going to make a weekend like GMOS make sure you get some practive beforehand.

Anyway, here's a sampling of some of the Osprey pics.

Sometimes they flew by with a fish.

Sometimes they just flew by.

Sometimes they flew too close to each other.

And sometimes they flew too close to us.

Yeah, it was a tough weekend.

It's nice to see that you're back in the saddle. Five months??!! Good grief.

I really like shot #1 ... excellent work, Scott.

For next time, how about mounting a stuffed fish on Ian's hat, and then let him walk around near the osprey? The rest of you guys could sit back with your cameras ready to snap.

Fantastic shots. Looks like it was a lot of fun. We have a lot of Osprey's here as well. They are great to photograph.

Way cool Scott. You may have been camera free for 5 months (eww, can't even fathom that), but these are great shots.

I have been slowly going through mine and will get around to posting soon.

Thanks folks. I *really* wish I had been in shape for this though. Not that I'm complaining - it was easily the best weekend I've had since GCPS III. I would have had a great time with a P&S.

Awesome shots!! Time to research the GMOS!!! :D:D
The 3rd pic looks almost like a collage: I bet that was an opportunity of a lifetime, huh, two osprey in one frame?

I've enjoyed every single pic so far, thanks to you and CDS. Where are IanD, Ssim, PacAce's pics?? :D

Beautiful, beautiful shots...especially for one "handicapped" by lack of practice. I can't imagine what you would have done with practice.

These are all super! I like #2 & #4 the best. When you get really close, like in #4, it's like being in another world.... very cool.

Thanks again folks.

Lazy - That shot freaked me out. I thought he was going to hit my lens. :-)

From the mill. I haven't gotten completely through pass #1. I got darn tired after going through the first 500 images...
