This is a bit different to all the rally stuff on here, this event is not about time but is whether the cars can actually complete each test. Through steep hills, water, mud etc.
A lot of the cars are specially built or modified to suit the terrain, it is not high speed event but a high degree of driver skill needs to be used.
Many older sports cars and also modern day machinery were taking part.

Excellent shots. The first one really gets across the effort and difficulty involved in trialling.

thanks for comments, the first car actually got stuck on quite a small stone and simply stayed there spinning the wheels producing some nice blue smoke, made a picture for me, he finished up having to go back down & not completeing the section.
If anyone likes car trials there are more of these on my pro gallery at :

Thats proper hill climbing ;)
And I don't think a VW Beetle would have been my first choice either!

These pictures were from an event here in the Beutiful Wye Valley, its called the Kyrle Trial organised on annual basis by Ross Motor Sports Club.
also the first time I had shot a trials event.
Its real nice for me to get feed back from such a prolific sport shooter as yourself
Thank you for your nice comments.
Andy
sure there were lots of VW beetles in the trial and some did not make it up the hills.
but some seemed to make it look so effortless.
looked to me like a lot about driving skills & certaily not how much power the car had.
most cars were letting the tyres down before the start, some looked almost flat to me.
Thanks for showing interest.
I have just put some of the images on my Pbase gallery take a look at this VW and note on the bank above rear wheels, I just realised where I left my 100 to 400 L and Billingham bag, think my mate was about to step back on it. oops.

Thanks Glen
Its not often I would use a 17 to 40 L for motorsport but I was that close some it worked fine,
just think of it, you would not need f 2.8 you would not need your 120mm to 300mm f2.8 and saving all that weight lifting would be real nice.
Cheers
