Besides Osprey, we did manage to snag some other beasts, like these little feathered friends below.

I was heading into a clump of pine trees when I heard a twitter directly in front of me. I froze, and started scanning the tree - this little guy was no further than 6 feet from me, and didn't seem to care very much. I backed up, since 6 feet is way too close for the lens to focus. I promptly backed up again, since the lens still wouldn't focus. Amazingly, he never flew off and allowed me 2 pics and even signed the model release.

Alas, a flip through Sibley's did not give me an ID...

These Yellow Warblers were fairly common all over Reid State Park, and they thoroughly enjoyed teasing us.

Just a Grackle, down at the Osprey shot. Yeah, I coulda shot one of these guys in my back yard, but I'll shoot them any time the color explodes when the light hits them like this.

The first one appears to be something like a Common Yellowthroat (Geothlypis trichas), male.

Nice bird captures! They are beautiful. Even the Grackle looks different from the ones i see in Texas.

We have these here in Vegas too, and when the light hits them just right, they become very colorful. ;)

Sweet shots Scott. It's amazing how the sun changes the colors in the Grackle. While many feel they are unworthy of photographing I certainly like them.

All are great shots. I like grackles, not only because of the color, but they are just nice, stately birds.

Beautiful!

Now you're just killing me - I can't get within 100 yards of any little yellow bird! I've been trying for a Common Yellowthroat for a year..

You are right, the irridescent color of the Grackle is irresistable.

Great captures Scott. The Grackle was a great subject, if you were on the right side of the cove:):)

Bob, thanks for the ID. I don't know how I missed it in Sibley's. And I think that's my first warbler...

Lazy, I'd feel bad except for you and all your slippers, pajamas, and balcony stories.
