Transcend card failure help?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can help me with this...I was downloading photos from my transcend 8gb card via my computer card reader, when all of a sudden I got down to the last 40 plus pictures and it stopped the download and stated there was a card error. I then took it out and put it into the Canon 7D to see if I could view the pictures on the card and I got a cannot access this card message. It said, check the card and reinsert which I tried 6 times with no success. What could have happened and is there anyway to recover them. I cannot get any progress on this incident. These pics were of utmost importance, can anyone give me any help?

Were you able to save the images that downloaded prior to the error? have hope, this happens to others, that is why there is a sticky dedicated to the problem. Did any of the options on the sticky help? If so, which one.

If so, which one.There were 360 images on the card 320 of them downloaded before the card failed .I did get a pm from someone on the forum who is going to send me some recovery software for which I am extemely grateful thanks for asking thumbsup.

It is good to know all is not lost. I can't imagine your anxiety when it happened. It is frustrating to put all the hard work into getting great images just to have something you have no control over to malfunction. Good luck and I'm sure everything will work out just fine.:-)

Thank you Thumbsup for the words of encouragement I hope it turns out for the best I'm not ready to give up just yet but I'll find out real soon if there is any chance for recovery I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I'll cross my "thumbs" as well. When I get frustrated with things I can't control (especially with my studies) my good friend would have my back and tell me giving-up was not an option. Sometimes just knowing someone has your back is enough to keep you going. Remember it is darkest before dawn.:D

I had a new card do that recently on me (a new sandisk if it matters) and I was able to get the last images by booting the computer with the card in the reader and selectively copying the missing images. If I tried to copy or access two images in the middle of the file set the computer locked up.

I would not ever use that card again even if it formatting it seems to fix the problem. I figure you wouldn't but I do like to point out the obvious I am told.

Proof that even when you think there is no hope to recover the images, putting in some hard work might get them back. It depends on how much work you want to put into it to get the results you want:confused:

Some could argue that a drawback of digital photography is ability to give-up to easily without even giving the images a chance.

Some software will still recover after a format, as long as the sector isn't over-written. I would try to recover the data again now that you've formatted.

It's worth a shot.
