I've been shooting HS sporting events for years but it hasn't been until recently that I feel that my photos are worthy enough and my skin tough enough to accept criticism.....please leave your comments and suggestions please....I will continue to add more pics as I take them

The main thing I am seeing is the faces...you can barely see the player's face in the first picture and none at all in the others. I know almost nothing about shooting football but I think it'd do you some good if you were located elsewhere on the sideline, it looks like you're right smackdab in the middle of the LoS.

Not really sure where I would get a better shot....I was shooting with a 70-200L I wanted my shots to be clear and not have to do much cropping... also, its hard to get faces with the helmets on their heads....but I will try next time....I thank you for your comments....is there anything you can recommend so as I might get better shots?

You can bring some of the facial features out by using the shadows and highlight tool in the first shot.

I consider myself a good photographer, but I'm just learning the post processing....were you referring to photoshop or lightroom?

Photoshop. If you turn on image editing others could show you what they can do.

I have not tried it myself, but I know there are some pros that shoot HS football at night with a flash mounted on their mono pod, but about two feet below the camera. This puts the flash up under the helmet and brightens the face without disturbing the game. I have been on the opposite side of the field when someone was shooting this way and it was not too bright and the players were not affected by it.

Probably best to clear it with the coach as parents may complain not knowing if it affects the game.

Definitely check I have seen a few photographers get tossed out for using flash at night games. I never use flash in night sports having been a player in the past and knowing how distracting it is.
