Your T1i actually already has a very durable LCD cover already. That extremely tough plastic panel is an inexpensive part that's user-replaceable should you ever need to. I haven't had to replace the covers in any of my cameras. Even though the body's finish is worn through to the metal in many places, the screen covers are fine.

We discuss this a lot in the forum. Many people want to protect their LCD's thinking the manufacturers make them like touch screens. Only N*kon has put a touchscreen on a P&S. But the LCD's on our Canons are protected by a shield that can withstand a lot of wear. The LCD is behind that shield. The touchscreen on my iPod Touch is not that tough so I left the original plastic thing on it as long as I can and when it comes off, I put a new cover on it. If you feel the need, any old PDA cover lying around is fine.

I second the Boxwave clear touch crystal LCD protectors. I have them on my T1i, my P&S, and all my cell phones. They are very durable and are absolutely crystal clear.
