www.paidmodels.com but the first time i've encountered this site was at Saturdays free for all photoshoot. some of the models had it on their business cards.

One Model Place (http://onemodelplace.com) has a lot of UK models. Or maybe try a local booking agent.

Roo, i started off with a few female friends, just started off some simple headshots etc...then they showed them to there friends who in turn wanted some pictures done too...and so on and so forth!

you could ask them to do TF* (Time for Print, or Time for CD)

In other words, you trade them your pictures you take for there time - win win for both parties!

The reason i started this way, as i set up a portfolio on purestorm, and not had much luck as i never had any decent pictures to show of my skills, and everyone thought i was a GWC (Guy with camera) aka Pervert :D (ask me how i know)

Also, Facebook its good too :D

If you're just starting off with shooting models, I think Cosha's advice seems a very good starting point.

Tagging along, how much does it cost to hire a model from MM?

It doesnt. You can do it for TFP/TFCD, which means that you give them a copy of the photographs which they can use in their portfolio and you can use in yours. If you want to pay them you can

Yeah pretty much. Send them a message first to see if they are interested in modelling for you, and then add in the details. Im a model on there as well
