Hi,
I'm pretty new to SLR photography and just wanted to see what you all thought of this shot.. I quite like it :)

i like it, i think it would have much more impact if the yellow car was th eonly car on the road.
otherwise great use of selective coloring and love the light streaks from the other cars and long exposure.

Thanks! Took me a few goes at hanging out of my works window and only having my bag to balance the camera on.. I now have a Gorillapod SLR and this works a charm so should get better and more lined up shots.

I don't like selective coloring; I don't like most architectural shots; I don't like photos of cars. And yet I really dig this. The only thing I might have liked would have been a smidgen more space below. Nice work.

haha, reading your reply.. I was expecting a good grilling.. But thanks!
Yeah, it was the best I could get.. Again with only a bag to balance my camera out of the window with I didn't want to get too risky with only having it a week lol.
I'm hoping for a clear sky soon so I can get some rush hour motorway shots.

Whoa this is very nice, how long was the shutter open for?

I can't remember exactly.. But I'm pretty sure it was approx 15 seconds.. I didn't get the timing right to get both traffic merging into each other.

Nice idea.
Perhaps lowering the frame to include all of the sitting cars
and emphasize the still versus the moving.

Agreed, I've got a wireless trigger on order and I'm waiting for it.. Once it arrives.. I'll be hanging out of my works window again, this time with my gorillapod and I will time the flow correctly!
However, dunno when it will arrive as it's coming for Hong Kong to UK! lol

They are very good for those type of shots where you can't get a full size tripod to sit right.. But they do bend a lot of your at funny angles with the camera.. Well worth having along side a full sized tripod :)
