I've lurked around these forums for a few months and posted here and there. This is my first posting of a picture. I was at my niece's soccer game and snapped a few shots. Others were just as good (IMO), but I really like this one.
Feel free to rip it apart if you see fit. I know I sure could use the advice for future a temps at a good photo opportunity.

Yeah, what I should have done is "motion blured" the ball to show more action. That would give it a little more charater don't you think?

I think a dramatic fast shutter speed shows more action that many 'motion' blur attempts...
its hard when they are young. but I would always make sure Im shooting their face, especially at that age...

Very nice shot!
I'm certainly not qualified to comment on improving sports photos, but in a general way, it seems to me the you didn't shoot this at f4, or the DOF would be much shallower.
Did you shoot in AV; TV or Sports Mode?

Sorry for the confusion about the f/4. What I ment was, thats the lens I used. As opposed to the 70-200 f/2.8 which I wish I had.
This photo was in full manual mode. Although I have been getting more use to using the AV mode lately.
This post doesn't show the clarity & sharpness of the photo because it's obviously setup for <100K file size so I cut it way back to upload. But I absolutely love shooting with this lens. It's my only L glass (of the 3) and I'm shamefully hooked on the L series. Does anyone have that 800 number for addicts?
