Had clear weather this morning, wanted a few shots at close to Last quarter Moon.
These 3 @ my home this morning:
f9, 1/125, ISO 200 250mm via my 55-250mm kit lens.
This is about as good as my zoom can take it I assume?
Wireless RC-1 coming in next week, I used 10 second delay to minimize camera vibration.

Not bad at all.
The image does appear to be slightly noisy though. Is this due to the PP?
Perhaps if you try a slightly higher shutter speed, the camera shake won't be an issue.
I have good luck at f/8 and 1/200, or so.
This was shot at those settings, with the same lens - hand held.

How did you get that close @ 250mm? Is it because the moon is closer to earth in your country?

The photo is heavily cropped.

I was watching Bruce Almighty and got inspired
While I cropped it I did not re-scale it either.

Phase of the Moon on 11 November: waning crescent with 28% of the Moon's visible disk illuminated
I'm sure many here have gone thru their "moon shot" phase.
I'm going to take weekly shots as the moon goes thru it phases and them make a composite of those.
Hopefully something like this I'll make:

I was about to give you draw-dropping comments re. your last shot there, until I realised it's something you're hoping to achieve. Still, a very nice shot.

I'm questioning the moon size/scale to rest of pict, it looks HUGE.
Great impact though.

Mike,
You have 130" screen. Everything looks huge. :)

Thx for reminding me, a friend suggested I project onto my screen some of these files and see how they look.
I've never used my Denon 4308CI for that, but it's fully capable to read jpgs from USB sticks. (I've used USB sticks for sound files to test my subwoofer)
I'll do that and post some "screen shots", aka picts of my 130" screen projecting a moon pict taken by camera, if it's worthwhile.

It should look great but besure when you merge them that you don't rotate the moon or it will not look real enough . I already spotted in your pict above that you rotated the moons image .

Good tip, I did not intentionally rotate the moon, rather I took it from different angles from my backyard/front yard/driveway/porch, so it rotated in relationship to my set-up/viewpoint/camera horizon.
Saved the orig RAW, so upon doing this in 1 month I'll keep the moon alignment correct as it "waxes/wanes". And also apply same PP to each so they look relatively same except for the phase.
I'll re-learn the moon phases by just doing this, and teach my kids at same time.
