Hi all,

I'm undecided on which image hosting site/online photo album to choose. It's between the Smugmug and Pbase. Would appreciate if any of you nice ppl who hv experience with the Smugmug or Pbase to list down the pros and cons of both of them. Smugmug is slightly more expensive than Pbase.

Which is more reliable, easy to use, doesn't compress the photo too much etc. Thanks a lot.

Photobucket if free & doesn't mess with my pics at all. ;-) It's only been down once in the last year, too.

I can’t weigh the pro’s and cons of each for you since I’ve never used PBase, but I've used Smugmug for just over a year, and I've not had a problem with them at all and can tell you about my experiences:

They're friendly, if I send them something, either a question or document; their support gets right back to me in very short order.

Smugmug’s picture uploaders are very easy to use, drag and drop, or browse folders for windows users, but they also support Linux, Mac, and Java based automatic batch type formats.

I find that their site is very fast to load, I don’t get a lot of traffic, but I haven’t heard anyone else complain either.

I have ordered prints from them twice, and was satisfied each time. The first time I messed up my order entry, and sent them an email asking for help to fix what I did wrong, and they responded within 5 minutes doing exactly what I wanted.

If you have any other questions let me know.

I use pbase. They had some issues about 6 months ago when they made alot of changes but since then they have been rock solid as far as performance goes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I've been using Smugmug for a few months now and overall I've been very pleased with it. You're more than welcome to have a look at my site to get a feel as to what Smugmug has to offer.

Best wishes,

Paul
