View Full Version : Frozen stream and the aurora

The northern lights where medium strong last night since I was busy elsewhere and when I got outside it was getting overcast.
It was very difficult to see the northern lights with your eyes.
But it showed up on the sensor.
This image is a blending of 1 raw file to get out the frozen stream.
This is shot at ISO 800, 20s f/3.5@10mm
Not my best image but at least you can see the norther light:

That's got everything...lovely scenery, pretty clouds, Aurora, star-fields, and M31. Cracking shot, even though it's not your best.

This is very unique in itself . I've never seen such a straight line . Very nice catch look forward to more !

Thank you. The Aurora is straight when it is very weak. When it gets more active it starts to spread

Are you not able to see Spaceweathers website ? If it's not there make sure the archives to the right side of the frame are showing Nov 11, 2009 for the date . If not then change it to this date . the picture at SW is the same pict to the link you provided . At SW it has your name credited to the image .
