from the temecula balloon & wine festival this past weekend. this was taken with 16-35mm/f2.8L + 10D, 1/15 sec, f2.8, iso 100.
this photo has seen the most photoshopping i've done for a while. because of the wide range between highlight and shadow, i converted the RAW twice, once for preserving the details in the flame, the other for better exposure of the rest of the scene.
what do you think? comments and critiques are welcome!

Think your photoshop work paid off
Fantastic image even, as MattyB points out, the shadows are a little noisy.
Great work

To avoid the noise, take two shots next time - expose one for light and the other for the dark. It will give you more to work with. Good job.

That is a great photo - very dramatic - very well composed: a 10"x8"print would be very impressive.

I'm gonna send that to my girlfriend, she's full of hot air too!
Lovely shot, I'd be proud of that one for sure.

hi barb. good suggestion for landscapes. kinda tricky with shots like this as everything is moving very fast (i was surrounded by many balloons all rapidly expanding). i'll look into some noise reduction programs to fix the shadow noise. thanks!!

Awesome. Wouldn't change a thing. The dark areas are fine being dark as they are not the focal point of the image.

Critiques? Critiques? We don't need no stinkin' critiques... and neither does that shot. Fantastic work!
