Not long ago i saw medium format slides, and was stunned about the details and vivid colors. Not that i have not seen this before, but i some how i forgot the limitation that digital projectors have. Even full HD projectors is way behind conventional projectors. So my question is, when will we get a digital projector that gives justis to a modern digital DSLR? Or is it just a dream :(

A dream, I think. Projectors are designed now for TV signal projection and the best of them are only 1920 x 1080, I refer those which individuals other than Bill Gates or Larry Ellison can afford! Produce a portrait orientation photo, and the size and resolution really suck! I have long thought that today's digital photographer is largely naive about reproduction quality in projection systems, compared to what we enjoyed in displaying a convention 35mm slide on a screen. And medium format projected to the same screen would really open their eyes to what they are missing in digital technology today! Walk up to the screen from a digital projector and you see the pixels.

However ccd based projectors are starting to be common this days and making a 4M pixel or larger projectors shoulden'd be so hard.

And then there are the high end Barco CRT projectors, which provide 3200x2048, and cost only $75k new
