Hi,
can anyone recommend a good book / tutorial to help me get going with Photoshop Elements 3? I've used the most basic functions of image editors for a good few years, but haven't really got past the basics of using layers, cutting / pasting, etc. I don't know how to do complex selections, and really aside from the selection tools I only use the clone stamp.

I'd love to know how to change colours, how to adjust brightness / contrast / saturation properly, and not just by random, possibly hitting on the right combination by chance.

I'm shooting with a 300D (which I love), and a Canon 28-80 USM lens, but am sure that I'm not getting the most out of the prints.

Thanks!

Am awaiting the arrival of 'the Missing Manual' in the post from Amazon. Will let you know once I get it. I also looked at 'The Hidden Tools' but after reading reviews thought the other one would be a better first choice. Besides, you can get most of the tools free off the net (such as Curves).

Thanks for the responses - mkh - is it the type of book I can read on the way to work, or is it only useful when sitting down at the computer?

I have the Scott Kelby book and CD and it's for sale for half price, due to a recent upgrade to cs2.

How do the books compare? I may be interested in buying your copy. Also - where in the world are you cactusclay? (otherwise postage will add up, so it won't be much cheaper).

Oops, I just noticed you are in the UK, I'm in the US. Actually I don't know for sure about the other ones, I just picked the Scott Kelby, because it had the CD, which really was helpful in getting a handle on the basics.

No worrries cactusclay - can you tell me - and mkh - can you tell me whether the books cover RAW editing?

It doesn't go into any great detail-only four pages- but tells you how to do it.
