I recently bought a 5D from a POTN user. I knew my 60mm macro wasn't going to work on it but it made me wonder what do FF users use to get close up ring shots or extreme close ups of people and/or objects. A telefoto perhaps?

Thanks

If you're wanting a macro - Canon ef100 macro (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/194451-USA/Canon_4657A006_100mm_f_2_8_USM_Macro.html) or if you want IS then there's the Canon ef100 macro IS (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/647011-USA/Canon_3554B002_EF_100mm_f_2_8L_Macro.html)

The 24-70L has a very close MFD, thus giving it a 'macro' label on its side. Also, other shorter primes, like a 50 or 35 have very small MFD allowing you to get close for the rings and such. No telephoto needed to achieve this. When going close, I also like as wide a FOV as possible. But, that's just me.

Cheapest way with what you have is a set of extension tubes. The Kenkos are the best buy, but then they don't come with "L" air like the Canons do.
The 100 f/2.8 has long been one of the sharpest lenses Canon offered and I'm hoping the new 100 f/2.8L with IS will be better (and obviously more expensive). (I'm not HOPING it will be more expensive, I KNOW it IS more expensive.)

Like you used an EF-S Macro on your crop body, FF users use an EF Macro on their full-frame bodies

Some good choices -
*Sigma 105mm f/2.8
*Tamron 90mm f/2.8
*Canon 100mm f/2.8
*Canon 100mm f/2.8 L IS

everybody needs a 100 macro. best lens for the money period. circuit city sold a bunch at 400 when they folded last spring and that pushed the used price down. the new 'L' version with IS has got to have an effect on the price, I bet you can find a good used one for less than half the price of a new one right now.

Thanks. Yeah I'm thinking of selling the 60mm and grabbing a 100, since it'll fit both my 30D and 5D.
