The water was black with alewives and some of these would eventually be a lunch for the osprey or other birds.

We watched at another area where these little guys had to swim upstream where they were spawning. If was very cool to watch.

That's the perfect "establishing shot" ! Awesome :)

And if you an believe it... The locals have put a moratorium on taking alewives since 1995. They're in short supply lately. Go figure.
