File 4.5mb, so broadband connection best! Give the image chance to load properly too.
The above URL links to a 100% and uncompressed file with just my usual cropping and post processing routine applied.
There has been quite a bit of talk recently about Macro lenses and the various options around. I did mention in one thread that I'd post a few test shots of my new Sigma, as it's a lens that seems to be well thought of but not much in the way of samples around. FINALLY, I got chance to use it last week, though time very limited and I also only took maybe 15-20 shots due to the wind (weather, not mine!!)
I have to say I really like it and though I have to get used to Macro work still I seem to be getting OK results quite readily. Only hand-held efforts so far as I didn't use my mini tripod when I went away last week. I think I can take better once I get used to the lens' needs and start tripod mounting it. Depth of field is what I need to sort mostly and also getting used to using manual focus. The shots where all taken AF, which is apparently not the best way to go!
Anyway, at least you get an initial idea about what the lens might be capable of straight out the box. The subject's nothing special, just a sample of whatever took my eye at the time! Scary what a fly looks like close up tho' .
