I want to start by saying hello as I am new to this forum, I have been into studio photography for the past 7 years. I teach digital photography to high school kids, and let me say it is a blast. I use canon dslr's exclusively, and use all Elinchrom lights in my studio. I'm looking forward to borrowing your knowledge!!!!
I just bought the new Elinchrom BX500Ri with the built in radio receivers, and I currently have been using a Sekonic L-358 light meter with the radio slave for the Pocket Wizard radio trigger setup.
My question is, is there any way to get the L-358 to flash the Elinchrom built in remotes?

Hi and welcome first and foremost.
I could be wrong, but I think the short answer to your question is 'no.' I believe the wireless chip in the Sekonic is only compatible with the Canon PocketWizard triggers. Again, not 100% sure, but believe it's what I read in the manual.
Put it this way, it will not trigger my Elinchrom strobes with Cybersynch receivers. That said, I run a cable from one of the strobes to the Sekonic unit itself near the subject then trigger the strobes tethered.
Again, could be all wet here. Someone will likely swing by with complete accurate info.

As the previous poster already stated, it can't be done. You'll need to either get a Skyport transmitter that gets plugged into the Sekonic meter via the PC port to trigger the built-in receiver of the Elinchrom strobe or you'll need to get a PW receiver unit that gets connected to the sync port of the Elinchrom strobe.

Ive been thinking about this and it sounds silly, but I might have an idea as to how this could be done. Granted it shouldnt be this complicated or expensive, but until someone makes a module for the Sekonics that will trigger Elinchrome's lights, here is where we are.
I was thinking if you had a Sekonic light meter with built in PocketWizard trigger, you could then attach a PocketWizard Plus II Transceiver (or equivalent) via its flash out port to the EL-Skyport Transmitter's trigger/PC Cable input port using a 3.5mm mono male-male cord. Then, when you triggered the lights with the Sekonic, it would fire the PocketWizard Plus II which would fire the EL-Skyport Transmitter and the lights would fire.
Oh yea you could always use the included PC Sync cable that the EL-Skyport Transmitter comes with and plug it directly into the Sekonic and fire the strobes that way. One advantage to this approach is the convenience of being able to adjust the lights right there with the EL-Skyport Transmitter without having to move from your metering sport. However the disadvantage to this is that youll now have a second, external transmitter dangling from your light meter that could get annoying.
I dont know, just food for thought I suppose.
