Slightly philosophical, it was completely random however:

Nice shot.
I think it is a bit more than "Slightly philosophical" :-)

I like it! Great capture!

great eye! I like this a lot. I think if you cropped it a bit from the bottom to the top of the seat cushion it would keep the lower right from drawing the eye away from the sign in the top left. Also, you might try reclaiming some of the detail in the sidewalk so that it leads the eye to the sign as well. Again, really well done!

here's what I was thinking

I like the concept! :)

Hmm, maybe it's just me but with the apprent birght sunshine, i think this picture would be better in colour. I like B&W shots where the mood is more gloomy.

This scene to me provokes an easy "Sunday Morning" kind of feeling. Maybe if you posted the colour version?

Just my opinion, hope you don't take it the wrong way. :D

Regards,
Khiem.

Karusel, I like the composition and idea. Thanks for sharing.

Mgbeach, it seems that your revised image is slightly sharper than the original one, or it's just me?

Personally, I like it the way it is. Nothing to add, nothing to remove. And the caption matches perfectly. Without that, it would change completely the mean.

yes I did sharpen it up and applied a levels adjustment in addition to the crop

Cool, but here's what I see; compositionwise your crop is I think better, but I wanted to include the chair she's sitting on.

Sometimes I would here people say, I like this shot, because it's in B&W, which I totally don't understand, but the point is, I like to shoot streetshots in B&W mostly because it's purer, enhances your idea by not dispersing attention to some color details. I for instance don't want the idea to scream out either, so in this particular picture, the colors were almost B&W by itself, except for the skin tones and the RED sign 'living', which I wouldn't want it to stand out too much. I like subtlety. And people who are patient enough to discover the meaning. ;)

karusel, your photo makes me feeling bored in a hot summer day, sitting on chair in the shaddow, looking far far away...smoking a cigarette and thinking...well...maybe at one of my youth girlfriends...or at my childhood...or anyway at something long ago...

I like a lot this photo
