i set my mark 2 to exspand to 13 focus point,s on A1 servo took around 200 shots of jets and all show centre point as being the point of focus even though on some shots the centre point is on the sky surly out of 200 another point should have being picked on at least 1 shot is there a way to test if its working ok
thanks
Rob.

I very rarely look at photos in EVU but if I remember right you get info which AF point was set not which was actually used. At least on latest EVU and 1dmk2 I always get selected af point not actually used one, even though if I remember right I saw sometimes used af point on older version of EVU and photos take with old 1d when I was shooting with all 45 points selected.

that must be why as it was set to centre point ,i thought in the viewer it would show the one it used .
Thanks

Auto expansion does not chose different points beyond the center point exclusively

. If you are shooting with the center point only... then the center point will allways be "the focus point" in Exif.

Expansion does not behave the same as letting the camera choose another point.. the surrounding 13 AF points will be used WITH the center AF point .. essentailly giving the center AF point a larger area. In exif this menas it'a allways the center point used.

I don't know what you mean by expand the number of available focus points to 13. One CFn. allows you to limit the number of Manually selectable focus points and then CFN.17 lets you tell the camera to look at the af points immediately adjacent to the manually selected focus point. CFn. 17-1 forces the camera to look at them and 17-2 allows the camera to choose whether or not to use them.
