Here's a mentionable I took over the weekend at a local message board's track day. I took about 500 photos that day and had a low keep rate due to me not having a whole lot of interest in taking pics that day. Needless to say, I was disappointed (it's not like I should have expected A1 work that day, but non the less......) with the outcome until I saw this pic. Just thought I would share.

Nice technical shot that one! Good motion in the wheels and well panned. Well done.

Yea, that is a little distracting, but when I crop most of that out, there is not much lead in/lead out on the front and rear of the car - it almost looks like it's cropped too tight when I try that. If you want to have a go at it, be my guest. I'm always looking to improve - and other people's perspective is a good way to do so. ;)

Cropping is often a matter of taste. I think it looks fine the way it is. I played with it out of curiousity, and cropping off the right made it want some off the top as well. By the time I finished playing around, I decided I liked your original better. On the other hand, when I just cropped from the top just to the bottom of the guardrail, I liked the result. However, that messed with the aspect ratio, which is sometimes important to preserve.

Gotcha.

Here's my second Duster. I don't have pics of my first tubbed duster scanned in. They pretty much look the same anyways. The first one was lost to a brake malfunction on the big end of the drag strip.

Here's my current project. It's tubbed also, but no where near the extent of the two dusters. Scroll through the build thread and you can see pics.

I like the aspect ratio of the original shot, great light, colors and motion blur. You might try cloning out the object, looks like a plastic bucket on a post.

Here's my second Duster. Thanks! It looks like it's going to be nice & clean. Plum Crazy I assume? This Dart used to belong to the kid across the street:

Next time you shoot the rear end, use the 70-200 & get back so the tires don't look distorted.

Very good, the light is fantastic, beside having good brightness.
Congratulations

That car is long gone. It died a horrible death due to the accelerator hanging and hitting a ditch culvert. The cage and 5 point harness allowed me to walk away without a scratch. The duster pics were taken with a point and shoot - this was before I moved up to a DSLR. I had been shooting 35mm SLR for a while, just took me a long time to move up. Too many hobbies! Now, I am building the challenger - so hopefully one day I will have it to a point where I can drive it somewhere interesting for a photo shoot. ;)

EDIT: Again, thanks for all the kind words and kudos. This was one of those shots where you step back and say, "Where did that come from!?!?" LOL

Musta hurt to see a nice car like that mangled. Glad the safety gear did it's job.

I don't remember, but then again, I don't remember it being all that fast. This was at a test and tune, so I'm not too sure what the rules are for that. I have not driven a car down the strip in over 5 years, so my memory of the rules is a little cloudy.

I haven't raced in a couple of years, but it used to be NHRA sanctioned tracks require a helmet for all racers even on T&T days. I think Vipers get into the 11's pretty easily if the driver can shift. Again - nice shot!

I think that is an IHRA sanctioned track - or they may not be sanctioned at all, I can't remember.

Thanks for the compliments!

13.99 is where NHRA requires a helmet. And it kind of looks like he has a helmet to me.
