I've almost every post and can't seem to find this answered...

Can the G1 or the upsoming G2 be used with studio lighting (flashes). I would like to use the G1 (or G2) as a preview camera for my studio set ups and I want to see if the cameras can use these lights in the manual or auto modes.

Thanks

User claims flashes (on hotshoe) with more than 6V trigger voltage is harmful to Canon cameras.

See http://www.botzilla.com/photo/G1strobe.html

I personally could never get a (non-Canon) flash to fire. Maybe I've already fried my G1 external flash circuit with injudicioius attempts with my Quantaray QA 25.

I understand about putting a non-Canon flash on the hot shoe can be bad....I want to know if I can trigger studio lights with the G1 or G2 and will it synch? I was planning on using a Quantum Radio Slave 4 to trigger my three studio lights but I want to make sure that the synch will come out when I push the shutter.

I hook up to a Calument (Bowens) Travelight kit using a Wein Safe-Sync HS volage regulator. It plugs mounts on the hotshoe and has a single synch cable port on the front. Seems to work fine.

Exposure settings are much different for the G1 than what is metered or actually used with a Nikon F5 in the studio.

The G1 will trigger my White Lightenings. You can use the in camera flash, or one of the Canon EX series; and turn the flash (set on low power) so the White Lightening can 'see' it.

Hi

Where can I get one of these: Wein Safe-Sync HS volage regulator

Ideally it should have a hot shoe on it as well so I can use it with flashes as well as studio lights.
