How does the new face lift look?
www.dewitzphotography.com (http://www.dewitzphotography.com)
I need to thin my gallery photos and gallery titles I think. Still working on a few links at the top.

The first thing I noticed was the logo. It is very pixelated and was the first thing that caught my eye. I would smooth it out, especially when I saw the link describing the higher-end photo editing that you do as well.

The pictures are too big, some of them I have to scroll down a bit to see the whole thing. I would make them smaller if possible.
(Viewing on 21.5" widescreen LCD, 1680 x 1050)
edit: was viewing in Opera, they seem to be better viewed in IE but still larger then I'm used to.

It would be nice to have the choice. One or two are a bit big vertically, the site should work well on a standard screen (say a bit less than 800px). However I like bigger pics. So much is lost as you reduce the size of a good photo - once you get to thumbnails you either have to know the image (i.e. OK for your own stuff) or you just notice the contrasty or pleasant/unusual colour combination images. Even worse in print.
Unfortunately "portrait" photos usually look terrible on normal TV or widescreen format displays. Probably best to avoid. It would look a lot better if the pictures are all the same size. Perhaps a separate gallery for portrait oriented images.
Do you worry people might steal the images? I admire all sites that display big pics, perhaps I'm a bit paranoid myself.
Cheers!

Only my favorite gallery has large photos. The rest of the galleries should have smaller images. I also have right click copy disabled to help. They are also only 96dpi.

That's a useless concept, as your images are jpg files not prints. I just printed out one of the images on your favorites page at 4x6, and it looks very nice. I will shred it so you don't have to worry, but I'd say you've left your "photographer's choice" photos fairly open for theft.

That will be $4.95. Which one did you choose? You don't have to shred it either.
I may have to add a watermark to those. I suppose being that large you can still print a 4X6 at 96dpi. I wanted at least one gallery to really show the image in it's full glory. Anything you put on the web is their for the taking and if I really wanted to protect my work I would keep it off line. The few that get stolen are worth it if the large size helps drum up business for me.

I will have to change the way the main page's rotating gallery is clickable to that gallery. Instead I will link to this page - http://www.dewitzphotography.com/Galleries/

In an age where the average joe thinks quality photography is obtained with minimal effort, the "What are you paying for" page is a great way to explain professional quality and effort.

Thank you. That is very basic but I wanted a start. I plan on making that much longer with a few better photos. I was just getting tired of people thinking your charging so high, or doing the work themselves, or just not getting that I am not just taking their picture and then selling it to them. I wanted to show the skills and work that go into it. To many people just think it is click and print and as our industry is getting kicked to the side with everyone owning their own digital camera and printing their own photos cheaply, while being oblivious to the quality. I at least wanted to point out the quality issues.

I printed the one with yellow fields and a lot of sky with a train going by. Nice image. I printed at 170dpi, by the way... 1024px/6in. Again, your 96dpi has nothing to do with anything in this discussion...
I would watermark them. I don't put mine up that large, but I still watermark them.

Do you need my address to send the payment too? j/k Those images along with the homepage slide show expand and shrink depending on your monitor size.
