Seems like everyone else got a sequence of a gull going after an Osprey's lunch. So, here is my offering. A few of the images are far from being sharp as the action was happening faster than I could follow.

At this point, the gull has lunch in its beak and the osprey has it in his talons.

Some fancy twisting and turning followed.

Getting closer to the water.

The gull has actually flown the Osprey into the water and is on his back.

Mr Osprey bobs back to the surface while Mr gull enjoys a free lunch.

Mr Osprey is not impressed. He struggled into the air and started hunting again.

Great shots, Ian. All I got were blurs of gray and white moving about in the air and then finally landing in the water. :(

GMOS = Great Maine Osprey Shoot (I think), but judging from all of the great pics it produced I think it actaully stands for Gobsmacked Mouth Opening Shots

Yes, Great Maine Osprey Shoot. The "Mouth Opening" parts of the weekend were only for lobster rolls at Red's eats. Yummmmmm.....

amazing
I never would have thought that a gull would have attempted to go near anything the Osprey's had alrady got for lunch http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
what a brave 'ordinary' bird ( which no one admires much)http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif

thanks for the education shots Ian
that Osprey would be disgusted to know he was caught like that on camera
I bet he is redfaced knowing the seagull knocked him for a fish... and got it http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
what a sight. the gull won the day
who would have thought it
they must watch the Ospreys like a hawk http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif all the time, to catch dinner, as it moves through the airhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
instead of having to duck under water
clever lot.
if I was a bird I would watch my back all the time
