I have used this with much success. It is easy to use and compose. You don't actually compose just alter the tracks to be appropriate. Not to expensive either.

Rip Burn Mix?

Napster?

Seriously, there are tons of audio stock sites out there. I'll ++ the recommendation for Garageband.

Ready-made music:

Kevin MacLeod (http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/) (only asks that you credit him).

If you want to make your own, and you're on Windows, this is a neat equivalent to GarageBand:

Acoustica Mixcraft (http://www.acoustica.com/mixcraft/); I found it very easy to use. They have a free trial too.

I have also found this, though I haven't tried it:
Pro Scores (http://videocopilot.net/products/proscores/) by Video Copilot. It looks interesting.

cheers.

I agree with the statement about Garageband, also you might look into getting a keyboard. I bought a cheap Yamaha ($140 if I recall) and even though I can't play I can use it to make slow ambient sounds quite well.
