I placed an order for a lense. Then I found it somewhere else $40 cheaper, so I call (by phone) the vendor and I cancell the sale - I make sure that he didn't send anything (same day deal-cancellation). I go and place an order with the second vendor ($40 cheaper). Now I think I was smart and I saved money. A day pass by and I get a package in the mail!. It was the lense from the first vendor! I looked at the receipt and I see that he had reduced the price by $20 (and I guess he figured out that I would like that). But now I got the other lense comming my way!

What can I do now? I cancelled the order and I made sure that they hadn't shiped anything, otherwise I wouldn't have order.

Call your credit card company, they'll cancel the transaction. Contact the first vendor to tell them they can pick up their product whenever they like, or whatever way they like to collect their product. Try to buy from reputable dealers in future, use resellerratings to check them out.

Have you opened the shipping box from the first vendor yet? If not, and it was shipped by FedEx, UPS, etc., I think you can refuse shipment and the shipper will come pick it back up and send it back without charge. Don't quote me on all that, but you could check out the shipping company's website to find out for sure.

If you've opened the shipping box, you may have a tougher row. You'll probably have to do as Tim mentioned.

well, they caught me by surprise. This is the first time this happens to me. I opened the package because I didn't know what the heck. Besides I have just look at the box and they had the company initials as sender name, which wouldn't have given me a clue.

This is another lesson to try to keep in memory.

I'll have top call then tomorrow morning.I 've just look at their return policy and if choose check-mark option d) 'change mind,' they'll charge me a 10% restocking fee. hopefully they will not play the dummy duck trick and try to charge me the 10%.

when I got the package and I realized what had happened I was a little puzzled. I even tried to contact quickly the second vendor and try to stop them from sending the package (but it was already evening). After 5 minutes of puzzlement I figured that it would be better to return the first one since I had cancelled it and I shouldn't had gotten it in the first place.

The second vendor played a small trick on me too. As soon as I placed the order, I got an email telling me to contact them at 1800... ext 205. I am thinking that these guys are going to try to sell me more stuff. What I didn't like is that if you don't call, they hold your order in waiting period. So I called them and they verified my address and then the guy try to sell me a warranty, a filter set, then a UV filter. This experience left on me with a bad taste and I won't return THERE either!
