My grip arrived from B&H today. I have a 70-200 F4 on my 20D and I don't have any problems taking vertical shots. My grip is very tight on the camera and when pulling on it I don't have any problems. Maybe Canon got it right.

The only problem and it may be by design is that when the camera automatically turns off or goes to sleep I can not wake it up by pressing the shutter button. Any ideas here?

Is the grip on?? I know it's obvious, but there is a seperate on/off for the grip.

Hey Dirty shirt. Toogy is right here. I thought that was odd as well when I got my grip back fron Canon today until I noticed that the switch on the grip was set to off. It took me a couple minutes to notice it.

Then it is either not working right or they changed it, becaue pressing the shutter button in the vertical position should wake the camera up.

Generally there won't be an issue, until you mount an extenal flash (http://images4.fotop.net/albums/sharpnsmart/miscellaneous/grip.jpg)or sometimes a large lens. And the only way you will know the power turns off is if you have the LCD on, because it will turn off. The power disruption is brief, and the camera comes back on immediately afterward. You will however lose any pictures in the buffer if this does happen.

Called Canon and the said "well it should work" Only option is to return to B&H or send to Canon for repair.
