First thread ever, sure will sound like an idiot to most, but is there a different class of filters for digital cameras vs. film cameras? Will my film camera lens-filters work on my digital camera lenses?

If not, can anyone give me suggestions on a few cool b&w filters and also for color to start off with?

Thanks.;) ;)

Yes, they will work, but why don't you just do your BW filtering in photoshop. You'll be able to fine tune things that way.

Because I know didley about digital photography, I've been doing wedding photography off and on for over 10 years now with Pentax PZ-20.....decided it was way past time to take the plunge into digital, but have a lot to learn. I ordered a Canon 20D today and waiting on Tamron 28-75 2.8 to be restocked (everywhere), and purchased the 70-200 IS 2.8 Canon.

Going to beach in few weeks with 4 kids and trying to find some filters to play around with.
