The autofocus stopped working on my 75-300 lens a few days ago, not sure why, but it just did, and when its in AF mode, you can turn the focus ring, although not so easy.
Any ideas or suggestions? Is this a common problem?
Thanks!

Never heard of this before. If it's hard to turn the focus ring that could suggest something inside it's siezed up. How old is it? And what camera are you using?

Its hard to turn the ring when the autofocus is engaged (I tried after it stopped working, to see if something had come loose) when in MF, its very easy to turn
Lens is about 6mo old, Shooting a 300D

It's under warranty then. My EF 75-300 III USM just had the diaphram/shutter lockup in a very small appeture. Called Canon and told me to send it in to them and they'll notify me whether or not it'll be covered under warranty. If it isn't it's a cheap $180 lens that isn't worth paying to fix.

Call Canon service - they'll probably want you to send it in for service, and will suggest the best location. Most likely the focus motor has died. It should be covered by warranty.
