Anyone had experience powering 220v Alien Bees on location with portable power packs.
I've looked at the Tronix Explorer XT, but was wondering if there we're any other (cheaper) options here in Australia.
I'd like to spend the equivalent of what I'd spend on a Vagabond II (which only does 110v), $396.00 vs $699 AUD for the Tronix...
Any suggestions?

Michael, not sure where you got the price from but i just checked the price on the Tronix website and it is significantly cheaper than what you are quoting here ;)
You would be looking at around AU$465 delivered to your door....

We have a distributor in Adelaide selling at that price, crazy I know, considering the price direct from the manufacturer. I really don't want to get caught up in the whole import, tax and customs issues, but feel at the $699 AUD, unless there another option, I'll have to go direct.

I bought mine direct on line with Tronix. Delivered to my door in just a couple of days. There were no tax issues and nothing dodgy was written on the declaration. Extremely well packaged. Good correspondence with them via email.
Dont be scared, they are great to deal with.

Michael, i just went back through my earlier posts when i tracked my shipment. It was in May of this year. I placed the order late on a Monday night and it was delivered at lunchtime on the Friday of the same week.... (to Perth metro)

Many thanks. That's cleared up any doubts I had, I'll go ahead and get the tronix. Thanks again.
