Just got the 7d and if i click on a video once on my computer, there is no sound. If i play it on the camera, there is. Is there something i need to do to play the sound and video on my computer? Sorry, but this is my first DSLR with video and i have no clue.

Sounds like a problem with the computer...

Is there not anything i need to use to play the videos for the first time? Or just windows media player?

Also, there is a .THM file with the same prefix number as my videos. Looks like there is 2 files for each video. WHy?

the THM files are just thumbnails to my knowledge. I'm on a mac so I wouldn't know about windows media player, i've never had a problem, but I play mine in quick time...
Sorry I'm no help, i'm not too big of a computer person, but to my knowledge they should be able to play right away...

Audio is embedded so it should play.
What's your audio hardware?

It must not happen, i have heard there are problems with audio input in 7d but these are corrected using
external audio recorder.
But your problem is different, did you check it on other players, if it is playing on others and not just wmp, uninstall and reinstall it....or if you had Nero than that could also cause problems.

Its the only player i got. It plays other videos from emails, online etc just fine. the file played with audio while still on the memory card and in the camera, just not on my computer.

try downloading quicktime or vlc. i don't think wmp is optimized to handle h.264 codec

WMP can handle h.264 just as well (or better with plugins) than quicktime and vlc.
The main issue here sounds like you don't have an LPCM capable decoder for WMP. the other thing that might be the case is that you forgot to turn on the audio/speakers are set too low.
Rather than using that outdated thing, get media player classic - home cinema. It has the built in codecs you need, including GPU acceleration (if you have a geforce 9000 series or any ati HD series graphics card. GMA x4500 may also do some decoding)
