Im studying at RMIT in Melbourne (photography funnily enough), and these shots were for my portraiture unit.

The one on the left looks too blown out. I know its lower quality so it could look better in high quality, but it feels a little too blown out. The pose is nice though, but the exposure is off a bit.
Good luck with your teacher though. :)

ummm its a high key lighting shot... the skin is meant to be blown out... but the print does have a bit of detail in it.. cheers though..
I should explain.. these two are for my lighting techniques... the B&W one is High Key, and the blue fan one is Mid Key.. two different shoots and two different lighting

I honestly think they are both very good indeed. A very minor point - In the peacock feather one your left eye has two catchlights in it which looks a little unnatural, perhaps you could clone it out?
Good work. Good luck with the course! :)

I sort of thought the first one was meant to be like that.. they are both very good.. and I didnt even notice the two catchlights in the second until it was pointed out. Very nice work! I hope you do well in your course!

They ar both very good, but even though the first is meant to be high key, it is blown out a little too much in my opinion (which counts for nothing of course)

I agree on the first one. While a nice shot and I like the high key effect, the face seems a little too blown (all i see is nostrils on my monitor, no other dimension to the nose).

Agreed with the rest. An image can be high key without just having the nostrils, hair and eyes floating on a white background. The second one looks great though
