I've read other analysis that indicates that the pose of the man - how his hand is clenched - means that either the staging is absolutely brilliant and they knew exactly what they were doing or that there was an actual battle and Capa managed to coincidentally capture the man at that exact moment.

Hmm that column certainly makes you think.

And here we are thinking that altering reality in photographs is something new!

In reality, its only the methods that have changed.
