I thought I read on one of the threads that it is not possible ot use the older FD lenses on the EOS bodies. Something about not being able to focus correctly.
Do I ditch my old FD lenses?
Just got a new Rebel and was planning on using my old Canon equipment.

Look in the EOS Sticky thread. There's a link to this post (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=57023).
Short answer is that it's not worth the effort or cost.

Correct, it won't work (easily). There are adapters available, but they will degrade image quality, as they have to have optical elements inside in order to allow focusing for infinity. Similar to using a tele converter.
As alternative, old Nikon or M42 lenses can be used with an adapter that's basically just a metal ring ... here you have the same image quality as you had on your old camera ... for the fraction of the price of an EF lens (but without AF, of course).
Is it worth it ? ... depends on what lenses you have ... if you have a lot of fluorite tele lenses in the 500-600 mm range and other L lenses, it might be worth getting an adapter.
For a 50/1.8, don't bother

Andy

Thanks for the quick replies. I have a 85-205 zoom and a wide angle. Doesn't sound like it is worth the trouble.
A note on searching the forum, it does not recognize non word terms such as FD, anyway to do that.

Which wide angle lens do you have ? Is it the 28mm ? I might be interested in it if you plan to sell it.

Slin, that's a GREAT tip ... also great for searching specific focal lengths of lenses (also not indexed)
Thanks a lot!

Good tip on searching. The Wide angle is 28mm, I still use it on a film Rebel.
