A fun session... at first we thought the weather wasn't going to hold out... but... the afternoon was awesome. I think we hit 68-70 with a slight breeze... I love Phoenix in the winter(I usethe term winter lightly) the summers... not so much. LOL

My partner Kristy did a great job posing(IMO :) ) the kids. Couldn't do it without her! The little ones did well... even caught a couple of smiles. LUCK!

Still doing the post work... here are a few which I think turned out pretty nice.

Thanks for looking.

These are beautiful. I love the warm gold tone. It looks like the kid portraits were done with natural light and the family shots were with light? Care to share your lighting set up?

Many thanks!

First 3...
Elinchrom Ranger RX/AS set to about 1/2 power... one "S" head... medium Chimera softbox about 6ft from the family....camera right. Just enough out of the scene I could see them and not the box.

Last 2
All natural light... no reflectors or anything... just covered shade. Shot with the 135L for most of the session. The 3rd shot by the water is with the 70-200L IS.

Hope this helps and thanks for the comments.

Stunning! This, to me, is exactly what a family portrait should look like. Beautiful, warm tones, lovely composition and just a gorgeous, kind of gentle series of images to look at :-)

Look natural in an unnatural environment. In the last one you posted the little girl on the left looks out of focus, otherwise great.

Thank you Solinger for the kind words. LOL about the leaves... we do have them... you just have to drive a few hours from Phoenix.

Thanks for posting that, Hatch! So far the kids forum seems to be quiet since I've been back to POTN. We need more people like you answering questions we are all to shy to ask!

Thank you Solinger. Always glad to help... if it wasn't for places like POTN... I wouldn't have learned nearly as much as I have over the past few years. This place is great... glad to help.

Yes, I agree all are fantastic. #3 is the wall hanging photo. That should be the one they blow up and put in the family room. Very nice. I really can't wait to get some time to dive into learning lighting....it really makes a TON of difference from good to great.

Thank you Bobbz :) You can pick up a nice used 5D for decent pricing since the new 5D2 is out... the 135L ...well... you mihgt find one in the sell forum for $850 on occasion. I LOVE the combo... the 135L is glued to the camera. I have done entire sessions with the lens. LOL LOVE IT!

Thanks again!
