I have a Canon PowerShot S30. I know I can record digital AVI files on the camera itself. Is there any way I can connect it to my computer (USB) and record the AVI files directly to the computer. I ask this because there is a limit to the size of the file on the camera itself.

I am new to the digital camera scene, so I apologize if I asked a very basic question that has been asked before.

Thanks

the short answer is no.

You are desiring to use your S30 as a video camera with your PC as the "recorder". This is not possible for lots of reason, one being that the avi length limit of 30sec is due to canon's design (flaw) of only being able to record in amounts maximum to the megapixel amount of your camera. It is not based on card capacity (if it was you'd get non-stop avis str8 to your card) so using your PC as your recorder would result in the same limit.

If I were you I'd buy a cheap DV recorder if your really want movies...you can get a decent one for about $400 US.
