Went to Venice last week, very nice. Took this shot in the main square . Wanted an architecture type shot but not sure if this works. I thought by using this Angle it would draw the eye into the shot but not really convinced. Any critique good or bad would be helpfull

That's one way to shoot St Marcos without showing the hoards of tourists and pigeons.
I think turning it on it's side, angling away from you as it rises, and making it a high-contrast b&w would look cool.

Interesting idea! I hope you took some "tourist" shots, too! ;-)

Folks
Thanks for your reply, Only way to do Venice at this time of year is very early in the morning. There's just too many people to take decent shots of the main landmarks. I was in just before 07.00am and its only the people that work in Venice around except a handfull of dedicated photo nuts like me.
What do you think of this shot. Again the 20d & 17 - 40 L. Its a shame there is scaffolding on the tower but thats life
Cheers

Its another very strong image - I like it a lot
Great capture and you're right that is becoming the best time to take any photos in most of the large cities in the world!

Nige,
I like the second a lot and would be tempted to apply a gentle S curve to it, just to make it a little more punchy.
The firs is spoilt by the awning (?) on one of the arches & seems distorted somewhat, so the verticals are right at the edges but something looks off to me in the centre. It could just be my eyse though!
